The Mission

Tarboro Brewing Company believes that creating exemplary craft beer and meaningful partnerships across the region will make us a national model for breweries in small, rural communities. We are invested in revitalizing Eastern North Carolina. Our team, our supporters and our neighbors drive our success. TBC beer is crafted to be super drinkable; it's delicious, pairs well with food and has a penchant for making you want to drink another.

The Story

Stephen & Inez Ribustello, owners of On the Square Restaurant and Wine Bar, dreamed of making Tarboro a destination town and believed that opening a brewery would be another step toward realizing that dream. In Summer 2008, they fell in love with & purchased our location in Downtown Tarboro. They soon partnered with Franklin Winslow, Director of Quality Assurance at Yards Brewing in Philadelphia and fellow Tarboro native.

With the help of many investors and lots of local and regional support, the Tarboro Brewing Company dream became a reality in February 2016 when we tapped our first beer. The taproom opening followed in June and since then, the beer hasn't stopped flowing!

In March 2017, we opened a satellite location on the Rocky Mount Mills campus called TBC West: Tacos & Taproom. This operation serves a delicious menu of chips, salsas and tacos with all of the beers we make at TBC on tap.

In the seven years since we opened our taproom, our team has grown to include Caty Gray Urquhart, our TBC Team Leader (another Edgecombe County native) and Russell Moore, our GM of TBC West (born and bred in Pinetops right down the road). Our people are our biggest asset, and we are grateful that these eastern NC natives loved it enough to come back to make it home.

The Building & Facilities

What was once a Chevrolet dealership is now the home of Tarboro Brewing Company, Edgecombe County's first craft brewery and taproom. Approximately 10,000 square feet, about half of it is used for production and the rest as the taproom and portico. In addition to its use as a taproom, the space is used for rehearsal dinners, farmer's markets, concerts, business meetings, team building retreats and even a teenage pregnancy workshop. We have wine as well as non-alcoholic choices, and our 40 barrel system allows us to make large batches of brews that sell in both North & South Carolina.
